Our History

Faaiqah Hendricks a graduate of Darun-Na'im founded and spearheaded the Montessori division. Whilst studying Montessori, Faaiqah discovered that the Montessori philosophy is closely linked to Islām as they both focus on the preservation of a child’s natural disposition. An example of this mutual link is that Dr. Maria Montessori developed her work on human development by observing children in their natural state without any interference.

From the above insight, Faaiqah, found that the Montessori methodology was missing a significant aspect which is Allāh SWT and His Rasūl SAW [the sunnah]. Since then, Faaiqah has been passionate about improving education by utilizing the research done by Dr Montessori through the lens of Qur’ān and Sunnah.

The doors of the pre-school opened with six students in 2006, headed up by founding member, Faaiqah Hendricks. The school adopts the Montessori methodology and is deeply entrenched in the principles of Islamic learning.

The preservation of the child’s fitrah has become more fervent and now more of a grave concern than ever before due to the poor education statistics, matric results and instability of belief in Allāh SWT and His Rasul SAW. Darun-Na’im Montessori therefore provides a solution to this crisis by providing a holistic educational approach to ensure that together we build a strong ummah.
